Cask Member Update

Dear Cask Member,

We are delighted to be sending you our first official Cask Members Newsletter. As manager of our Cask Members Programme, Kevin McParland will be your point of contact for our team going forward and will send regular updates. Many exciting milestones have been reached in the last six months. Powerscourt Distillery recently celebrated its first anniversary as a fully operating whiskey distillery by opening its visitor centre in the Old Mill House on Powerscourt Estate.  Dating back to the 1730s, the original building has now been faithfully restored and extended to accommodate visitor facilities and corporate meetings/functions adjoining the production area. An on-site maturation warehouse that is used for filling and storing whiskey casks completes the visitor experience, and all are now open for tours, tastings and events. An official distillery launch and opening ceremony is planned to take place later this year. You will soon be receiving a special invitation to one of our cask members presentation evenings where we will be presenting you with your certificate of ownership.

The opening of our visitor centre marks an important stage in an unfolding whiskey story on Powerscourt Estate. Everything from grain intake, milling, mashing, fermenting, distilling, cask filling and maturation takes place here. The visitor centre provides a tremendous environment to learn about all these processes while taking in also the rich local history and natural beauty of this location.” Alex Peirce, CEO.

NB. If there is more than one person listed as owners of your cask, your name may appear a little strange in the address bar of our communications.

This is because we send our communications to the one nominated person and their nominated email address for news relating to your cask but we try to recognise the other members of your syndicate in the email. The nominated recipient of the newsletter should forward the communication on to any other members of your party. This ensures that all direction from your syndicate comes from your one nominated person. Your cask certificate will of course carry all the names of all the owners in your syndicate. You can change this nominated person if you wish, but we require clear and agreed instruction from your syndicate.

CASK MEMBERS PROGRAMME

We are happy to now be in the position to begin planning and organising our cask members presentation events.

In the coming months, you will receive an invitation to be welcomed at one of these events where we will be presenting you with your cask membership pack, ornate cask member certificate and your cask stock certificate. MEMBERSHIP FAMILY

Our Cask Members Programme is performing as well as we could possibly have hoped for. The interest in being a part of the history of Powerscourt Distillery and therefore part of the history of Powerscourt Estate, is wonderfully strong at a local, national and global level. We even have some very well-known members too. The world-class experiences on offer in the stunning location of Powerscourt complement our beautiful distillery and place our award-winning liquids into context. It really is a very exciting time to be involved in the creation of high quality Irish whiskey and the strong demand for Ireland’s national liquid is growing all around the world. We feel our cask members offering is something really rather unique and special. We are delighted and honoured to be sharing this experience with you. Perhaps your friends or family are interested in becoming a part of this piece of history too? If you refer a potential member to us who then becomes a cask member, we will give you one of our Fercullen Trinity packs as a token of our appreciation.

Restricted to a membership of 397 (200L) casks, each one represents a foot of water] from the nearby 397ft Powerscourt Waterfall. Available to private individuals, the programme offers an exclusive level of involvement with the distillery’s exciting whiskey future.

According to Alex Peirce, Chief Executive of The Powerscourt Distillery,

Our Cask Programme is something quite unique – a once-off opportunity to become part of the unfolding story of whiskey distilling on Powerscourt Estate. The past few years have seen a lot of careful preparatory work, and we now have a whiskey distillery located in an extraordinary setting, complemented by a world class visitor centre & facilities and an onsite maturation warehouse all in the one place. Of course, we also have one of Ireland’s most decorated and recognisable of distillers, Noel Sweeney at the helm of our distilling operations. I believe we are offering a programme like no other available in at this time and we are determined to make this very special….

The programme is also the vision of ‘Whiskey Hall of Fame’ Noel Sweeney, Master Distiller at Powerscourt. Having helped design and commission the new plant, he now holds responsibility for the spirit being distilled and the selection and laying down of all new fill casks.

Together with cask ownership, other benefits include distillery shopping discounts, early access to future limited and special releases, annual samplings, special tasting events and an exclusive bottling of the otherwise unavailable Powerscourt Distillery Fercullen 16-Year-Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey.

Powerscourt Distillery’s Cask Programme sits comfortably in a place that enjoys a heritage of thought and craft.  Overlooked by the great Sugarloaf Mountain, the Estate is often regarded to represent one of Ireland’s finest – with its world-famous House and beautifully landscaped gardens.  Cask Members will also avail of luxurious accommodation at the five-star Palladian styled Powerscourt Resort Hotel & Spa and access to two on-site championship golf courses. With an extensive range of local outdoor pursuits in beautiful countryside, the distillery’s stunning Estate location is backdropped by north Wicklow, the Garden of Ireland.
