On Monday June 14th, Powerscourt Distillery teamed up with Peter Caviston of the famous Caviston’s of Glasthule to kick off three days of Bloomsday events. On Monday the Distillery welcomed the Cavistons bus which left Dublin’s Merrion Square having been sent on its route by An Taoiseach Micheál Martin.
The special bus stopped off in Glasthule before heading for the Distillery itself where the guests were treated to a feast of a Bloomsday inspired menu. Starting with an extra special “Flowerville” cocktail inspired by Leopold Bloom musings in Ulysses, and was devised by in-house food specialist Santina Kennedy. Actors Brian Murray and Barry McGovern recited the whiskey related excerpts from Ulysses to the enthralled audience of Joyce fans new and old.
This year the Caviston’s celebrations for Bloomsday were in aid of the Jack n Jill Foundation. Founder of the charity Jonathan Irwin was delighted to be part of the celebration and joined in the fun. Powerscourt Distillery were thrilled to be able to support the annual event and look forward to 2022!
