Tír na Nóg Hamper
The appreciation of Irish whiskey has been long been synonymous with Irish culture. Combining that appreciation with the Irish tradition of storytelling and a taste of local foods, Santina Kennedy, Powerscourt Distillery’s in-house Food Historian has created a ‘Fercullen, Food, and Folklore Hamper’.
Originally available as a tour at the Distillery’s Visitor Centre, the hamper is now available to a wider audience. It can be ordered through the Powerscourt Distillery Website and delivered nationwide. It includes a link to a presentation with Santina (first airing on April 22), who will guide you through the taste experience. This presentation explains the flavour profiles of the whiskies, the provenance of the foods and a detailed guide to whiskey and food pairings. It also includes lots of Irish folklore about food and drink, and is enhanced with plenty of Irish poetry, Irish whiskey anecdotes and Irish music.
The discerning whiskey drinker is offered a new twist on time honoured rituals while those at the beginning of their whiskey journey will be pleasantly surprised at this introduction to Fercullen Irish whiskey and how these carefully selected local foods enhance the whiskey tasting experience.
With mouth-watering meats from the Wooded Pig, local honey from Powerscourt Estate, Wicklow Bán Cheese and Fercullen Whiskey Chocolates making up just some of the goodies, the hampers deliver an authentic Irish gift or simply offer an exceptional night-in!
The Fercullen, Food and Folklore hamper will have many seasonal variations, each uniquely named after famous Irish legends. Find out in the presentation why this one is called ‘Tír na Nóg’ ! There are some interesting folklore links to our own Fercullen Irish Whiskey!
The hamper is available to experience with a live webinar on April 22, 2020 or as a video link after that date. It is priced at €90.
