Powerscourt Distillery wins a World Whiskies Gold
February 24th 2021 – Powerscourt Distillery wins a World Whiskies Gold Award in the highly competitive Single Malt (13-20 years) category for Fercullen “Five Elements” an 18-Year-Old Single Malt limited release.
The World Whiskies Awards is an annual celebration of the very best in whiskies from across the globe. Presented by TheDrinksReport.com and Whisky Magazine, the World Whiskies Awards are one of the highlights of the year for the whiskey industry selecting, rewarding and promoting the world’s best whiskeys to consumers and trade across the globe.
Hundreds of Irish whiskeys were considered for the ultimate title of ‘World’s Best’, and we are delighted to achieve a gold medal in this extremely competitive Single Malt category. This Single Malt was selected by the judging panel for its signature taste. Master Distiller Noel Sweeney applied his vast experience to ensure different proportions of each style to lend balance and expression to the Five Elements within the limited release, of only 1,500 bottles, producing a truly complex, flavoursome and unique tasting whiskey, which has now been recognised among the finest whiskeys in the world with a gold medal.
Noel commented, “A unique whiskey is always a pleasure to develop. Working to distill, mature, finish, blend and balance this rare composite expression represents years of experience and patience required to bring all the elements together forming something truly special and we are delighted that our Fercullen Irish Whiskeys continue to be recognised amongst the Best Irish whiskeys in the world.”
